A blessed Year

No matter how you celebrate the holidays it is a time for reflection.

The year began very solomley after the loss of our dear friend Liz. It was a terrible time for all the staff and instructors, many of our customers and indeed a loss for the whole community and beyond. She is dearly missed and has left an element of herself in most everything that happens with us at the store.

The year has been good to us though and we are grateful to all our wonderful customers who fill our store full of wisdom and laughter everyday. We have met many new knitters, said sad goodbyes to some who have moved to distant places and happily welcomed back old ones have returned to Aquidneck Island. Our weekly classes are filled with friends who have passed the year together, creating, learning and sharing our lives. We are indeed blessed.

A very happy holidays and a prosperous and yarn filled new year to you all.xx

Fun and snow...

We are due for snow, lots of it apparently. This weekend was full of holiday parties and now, well, it looks like the weather has other plans.
Secretly, sssssh, Im glad. I get to stay home and knit. ☃

Making Gifts on a rainy Sunday

The Past two Sunday afternoons we have been running the Viking knit class. What a great group of folks and at the end of yesterdays session there were some pretty fantastic gifts walking out the door.
Everyone agreed that even though the weather was crummy and they were busy with holiday preparations they were really glad they came.
A couple of hours out of the craziness were just what we all needed.

Talking about classes, we already have people signing up for the scheduled classes and lots of interest for classes we are still finalizing dates for, and don't forget we are always interested in hearing your suggestions for classes too!

Holiday YO YO YO

You are either a Holiday knitter or not. Not many people fall in between.
Many knitters are at some point a 'Holiday' knitter and toil feverishly for months and late into the night only to get a 'Meh, I don’t really wear hats' or 'I’m so sorry I have a wool allergy" (serious cop out BTW, most people who think they have a wool allergy do not, but that shall be left for another day). This can lead to all sorts of knee jerk reactions. I say it’s just a learning process, learning who you should and should not knit for. You’ll figure it out and dwindle down that list.

On the other end of the spectrum we were told by a customer recently that a relative said ' I know you don’t have much money this year, so why don’t you just knit me something' ………Pause…..deep breath. Non-knitters don’t understand and I feel badly for them ; )

Enjoy your holiday knitting and remember the joy it is giving you to produce beautiful gifts that are jam packed full of love. Ho, ho  Yarnnnnn Ho!
